Different question
But this post is where I know I can find you easily. <g>
So, one of my quirks when I edit a story for myself is using the words people say. We don't say "etc", we say "etcetera". Or "and so on".
I'm reading a story, and someone is talking about firing his "9mm" which I transcribed as "nine millimeter" and then it occurred to me...
People tend to shorten long words. So would an experienced weapons'-user call it a "nine em-em", or would they actually say "nine millimeter"?
It's only for my eyes, so it doesn't really matter, but I like to be as realistic / accurate as possible. Thanks for indulging my questions.
