Of course Blair could see him; our sentinel and guide team are unbeatable. ;-) But yeah, Hobbes lucked out; he didn't have to wander the world until he stumbled upon a tribal shaman or psychic -- or maybe a very young child with an unfettered mind -- who could see him. (Hmm... looks like Hobbes could have managed another way, if he had to.)
