Yes, as soon as I conceived the story, I knew Blair and Jim would have to work together to get Hobbes home; I just wasn't sure how until I got to that point.
Science fiction was my first "grown-up" reading material, starting when I was 11 and, for many years, it was about 75% of what I read. So, yeah, a multidimensional universe is familiar territory; it would be fun/amazing if we could confirm it.
