I need to do better at rolling my eyes at the bashing/woobification and move on to checking out the next story. But my brain gets hung on "BUT THAT'S NOT HOW IT HAPPENED" - when there's a canon error like people insisting that Jim said "check your humanity at at the door" (he didn't, Blair said it) or "BUT WHAT ABOUT JIM'S FEELINGS?" - when Jim is being yelled at for not considering Blair's feelings in some matter.
I think part of why I'm so hung up on The Sentinel right now... I'm watching this new show White Collar and the similarities are a little disturbing. There's two characters who are on opposite sides who don't talk to each other enough about the important things, which results in bad things happening. Peter can't trust Neal at all (which is fair since Neal IS criminal), but of course that's resulted in Peter making a mistake in season 2 final - he accuses Neal of doing something that Neal didn't actually do this time.... and of course Neal is the fandoms woobie....
Sure there are differences - Peter isn't as closed off as Jim and he does talk to Neal more than Jim did to Blair about things. And Neal is actually a criminal which complicates the whole trust issue in a reasonable way. But still... the similarities are there.
